Hi - just wanted to give you an update on Dakota. We've shortened her name to Koda and she's actually looking at us when we say her name now.

Our 12-year-old shepherd and our cats let her know who was boss in her first days with us and they all get along well now. She's not as mellow as she let on in Topeka - her husky personality is coming out more and more. She talks to us at dinner and runs and leaps through the house. She's almost housebroken, knows sit and shake - come, as usual with a husky, will come more slowly. Her hair is slowing growing back - she'll have a beautiful coat by winter.

Our challenge now is to keep her quiet. Her heartworm treatments began last week. Our vet slowed down the injections - the heartworm looked worse than expected, her aortic vein showed some changes. She's responding well so far.

After treatment and some more training we hope to get her into a therapy dog program.

She's a great addition to our family; we love her!
