McCaffrey

McCaffrey is a sweet, blue merle mini Dachshund that I adopted from HHHS in May of 2005. She and her housemate "Jake" were given up by their previous owner due to moving into a new home that did not allow animals. I often ask her where Jake is and she perks up as though she knows Jake. When I first brought McCaffrey home she developed kennel cough and she was not feeling well at all. We went to the vet and he fixed her up with all of the meds needed to place her back on the right track. It did take her a bit of time to find her way around in our household due to already having a mini Chihuahua who was an alpha female as well. Trixie and McCaffrey love each other and take care of each other the way that housemates should. They rough and tough through the house and love every second of it. They both love to lie in front of the fireplace and get warm. I love this dog and often wonder how life was before her. She is a very happy dog and I love her spunk and personality. I do keep both of the dogs kenneled throughout the day so that they don't tear things up in the house. Also, McCaffrey is a very loyal dog as there have been times that I have left for just a few minutes and when I return she is laying right at the door waiting for me. She loves going bye-bye in the car to go to the Bark Park, however, once we are there she stays close by but is trying to become more social with other dogs. She needs more work in that area and we will continue this car trip. I love both of my dogs, McCaffrey and Trixie.
