Miller
We adopted Stella and Miller May 27, 2006 just a few weeks after we moved
into a new house with a big back yard and screened in porch. Stella was six
weeks old and weighed six pounds; Miller was ten weeks old and weighed twenty
pounds. Stella was just so cute we had to adopt her. We chose Miller because
out of a pen of five puppies, he was the only one not barking and jumping all
over. Stella has doubled in weight and Miller is almost forty pounds. They both
get cuter everyday and don’t bark much which is great. Every time we go
to the vet for boosters, the staff goes crazy because the puppies are so cute!
At a recent trip to PetCo, a store worker asked where I got the dogs. I said,
“ The humane society. Then she said “You can get dogs that cute
at the humane society?” I said, “Yes, you can – there are
lots of them.” I hope her misconception isn’t one many people have.
Both dogs are learning quickly – except that our two cats don’t
care for them. They love eating ice, swimming, going for walks, chewing on things
they are not supposed to and wrestling with each other. They make us laugh all
the time.
Stella is named after the character in A Streetcar Named Desire and Miller is
named after the playwright Arthur Miller (I’m an English Teacher).
We’re so happy to have them and thankful for all the work the human society
does in the Topeka area!
Thank you!
Alice & Matt
