Presley

Hi, I am Presley, named after the King of Rock and Roll. My parents adopted me from the shelter after Mom discovered me out there when she was doing some volunteer work.

I was kind of a concern to some of the workers due to me being blind, but shoot I don’t really understand what that means. I mean I know I have a disability, but Mom and Dad have never treated me different than the other dogs. I do have a problem at times running into things and such but I just wander around the problem and continue on.

Mom say’s I am a “big lug” cause at eight months old I weighed 80 pounds, so everyone tells me that my dad was big since we knew my mom. I have brother and sister dogs at home. We get along great, but those danged girls think that since my eyes don’t work they can steal toys from me, but I’m learning to hang on better. We get to go swimming at a pond and long walks and mom tries to teach me tricks but she says I’m hard headed at times. Something about me being a boy, then she laughs.

My favorite thing to do is wrestle with my dad. I also like to chew on bones and play tug of war with my sister’s Indy and Tyson (they also came from the shelter), and try to kick mom out of bed at night by stealing the blanket and her pillow. I still have a lot of growing and learning to do; I can hardly wait. Life is exciting. Mom says never a dull moment with me around. Mom also says I have taught her and dad and some of our friends “Life Lessons” like; don’t feel sorry for yourself when something little happens because there are people and animals that have it a lot worse. And to accept what life hands us, and learn to deal with it, instead of sitting around crying about it. Oh and just one more thing. Just because a blind dog can’t see, it will show you how to open up your eyes and to see the little things in life you take for granted.

Well, Dad is firing up the van to take us swimming.

Love,

Presley Thompson
