Trooper

Trooper was found in a rural area near the Kansas-Nebraska border. He was relatively lifeless after having been caught in a live trap for an unknown period of time. When he arrived at Helping Hands, a veterinarian assessed his injuries and determined that surgery would be necessary to repair the damage to his neck. He obviously needed personal attention to assist in his recovery. Who might care for this young tri-colored coonhound?

As a child, I remembered caring for a bloodhound who got separated from his owner. Trooper brought back fond memories of that time. Compassion for this injured dog continued to grow as a result of caring for his wounds. Complaints about the “accidents” seemed to dwindle. I’m not sure if it was the apprehension in his eyes or the slight cross-eyed look when he relaxed that won me over. Normally people adopt their pets, but in this case it seems Trooper adopted me.
