SPECIAL EVENTS

Lawn & Garden Show
Volunteers are needed each day to showcase animals for adoption. This indoor event is held at the Expocentre in February.

Bone Appetit
Volunteers are needed to assist with registration, setting up the silent auction and walking animals in the pet parade. Could also use help transporting animals to and from this event that takes place in May.

Paws in the Park
There are a variety of jobs at this annual event held in September.

We need help setting up and tearing down. This requires early morning arrival and staying after the event to make sure everything is loaded and clean.

Rent-a-dog booth – HHHS offers animals for rental. We need volunteers to run the booth and help take care of the animals during the event. Volunteers will collect money and identification from renters.

Pancake feed – We need people to help serve food, clean the area and collect money.

Pre-party – Volunteers help set up before the event and clean up afterwards. Also need people to serve food, help with registration and distribute bags and t-shirts.

Silent auction – Volunteers help set up and monitor the auction. Volunteers must stay until auction is over and all items have been picked up and paid for.

Retail booth – Volunteers help set up and tear down the booth and collect money for items sold.

Volunteer table – Volunteers working at this table must arrive before event. Assist other volunteers with sign-in and nametags. As volunteers arrive, direct them to their assigned areas. Answer questions direct volunteer “floaters” to appropriate areas to cover for breaks and extra help when needed.

Greeter – Volunteer will be available early to help direct (by way of map) vendors arriving to set up their booths.

Cider Days
Volunteers are needed each day to showcase animals for adoption. This outdoor event is held at the Expocentre in September.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

Foster Parent
Foster our animals in your own home. Pets considered for foster care include adoptable ones waiting for a permanent home. There is also a special need for foster homes for animals with health issues, nursing mothers with litters and babies without mothers. Foster parents must be licensed by the State of Kansas. Call HHHS at 233-7325 to learn how you can obtain a license and become a foster parent.
