“I Only Have Eyes For You” HHHS Valentine Campaign Sponsored by Kwik Shop

Topeka Kwik Shops

January 27th through February 23rd

Topeka Kwik Shops are lending a hand to help homeless pets.  Between January 27th and February 23rd, Topeka Kwik Shops will be selling a collection of valentine cards benefitting Helping Hands Humane Society. The “I Only Have Eyes For You” valentine campaign offers 8 collectible valentines featuring pets adopted from HHHS.  Cards will be sold for $1 each and all money raised will benefit the new HHHS shelter.  The goal of the campaign is to sell 10,000 valentine cards.  The newest Topeka Kwik Shop is neighbors to the new shelter of Helping Hands Humane Society

Animal shelters, such as HHHS, offer a variety of services to assist animals and the public.  Among many things, they provide sanctuary for lost pets, protection from abuse, and health and behavior assessments.  One of the most rewarding aspects of an animal shelter is finding new homes for pets.  Animal shelters also provide an educational outlet and guidance to assist the public with animal-related issues and concerns, from dealing with training issues to behavior issues.

HHHS has been a permanent part of the Topeka community since its founding on May 4, 1938. The organization is incorporated as a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) business for the purpose of sheltering companion animals in need of care, advocating for anti-cruelty protection of animals and promoting humane education and animal welfare issues. HHHS fosters the adoption of companion animals into responsible homes and reunites lost animals with their owners; promotes sterilization of animals to help reduce overpopulation; provides a facility accessible to the general public; serves the community with educational programs addressing animal welfare issues; and maintains a fiscally responsible organization.

HHHS "ORANGE U Glad U Adoped a Cat?" Event

Due to an overwhelming population of orange cats, HHHS is running an adoption special through December 16th. Over 22 orange cats (with more admitted daily) are looking for families to adopt them during the “ORANGE U Glad U Adopted A Cat?” event. People adopting orange cats between now and December 16th will receive a $20 adoption fee discount, a goody bag with cat toy, a bag of Hill’s Science Diet cat food and a 2011 HHHS Christmas ornament.

HHHS has a variety of orange cats from young to adult and males and females.  One very special orange cat is Luv Bug who is 90% blind.   Luv Bug and her sister, Bella, will need to be adopted together as Bella helps to guide Luv Bug (see attached photo – Luv Bug is on the left; Bella is on the right).  The girls have been residing at HHHS since June 29th after their owner passed away.  They are both spayed, litter box trained and have pleasant personalities.  Luv Bug and Bella have a special ORANGE U Glad adoption fee which allows them to be adopted for the price of one cat.

This event will lead into the HHHS Howliday Adopt-A-Thon being held on December 17th and 18th.  Last year the Adopt-A-Thon resulted in 30 animals finding homes in one day.
