Dog Treat Recipes

Garlic Liver Brownies

1 ½ c wheat germ
1 lb liver
1 ½ c corn meal
3-4 eggs
2-3 cloves minced garlic

Add in order to a food processor and puree for 4 minutes.
Put in well greased pan and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.
Cut into bite size squares.

“Sugar” Cookies

2 ½ c whole wheat flour
½ c wheat germ
½ c powdered dry milk
½ tsp salt
½ tsp garlic powder
1 tsp brown sugar
½ c margarine (or meat drippings)
1 egg, beaten
2 tsp beef or chicken broth
½ c ice water

Combine flour, wheat germ, dry milk, salt, garlic powder and brown sugar in a large bowl. Cut in margarine (or meat drippings). Add egg and broth. Add water, as needed to form mixture into a ball.

Pat or roll dough to ½ inch thickness on waxed paper. Cut shapes with your favorite cookie cutters for some really cool shapes, or you can shape bones by hand.

Cover cookie sheet with foil and oil the foil. Place cookies on sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes, until brown at the edges.

Cool, then show your favorite furry friend how much you love them! Remember, moderation is important, even with these healthy treats.
