Trinity’s
Story
October 2001
A three-year-old,
female, Shepherd mix was shot in the face during an attempted burglary
of an abandoned home. The dog was reportedly barking at the intruders
prior to being shot.
Rescuers
discovered nine one-week old puppies at the scene. Upon examination
by a veterinarian, her injuries were considered life threatening. The
bullet lodged in the back of her neck was carefully removed.
The wounded
mother and her nursing babies found sanctuary at Helping Hands. The
shelter staff that cared for the dog named her Trinity. As a result
of the injury, she has limited vision in her right eye.
During her
stay at the shelter, Trinity was spayed and tested for heartworm. Despite
her ordeal, she proved to be a very playful and loving companion who
was successfully adopted following her recovery.
