Sponsor a Pet

Can’t adopt right now?

Help animals get into homes faster with one of these options

SPONSORING ADOPTION FEES

A great way to help animals get home is by reducing adoption fees for families! Adoption fees serve a two-fold purpose for our shelter: recouping the cost of care for the shelter for the time we cared for it (did you know it costs about $15/day/animal?!) as well as demonstrating a financial investment in the animal on the part of the adopter. That being said, we recognize that the human-animal bond should not be limited to any socio-economic status and we do want to make adopting a more reasonable cost for some families. Reduced fees for some animals do make it easier for them to find homes. When selecting which pets to sponsor adoption fees for, please contact our Adoptions team! We’d love to talk to you about which animals could benefit, based on length of stay or other contributing factors. For example, bonded pairs are a great candidate for sponsorship because the long-term cost of care will be double for the adopter. High profile pets are not recommended for sponsorship since they tend to have no trouble finding homes.

Sponsoring a pet is a great way to “gift” someone a pet without actually gifting a pet because it contributes to a specific animal finding a home and shows someone that you did something in their honor!

SPONSOR TRAINING SCHOLARSHIPS

HHHS is proud to offer a new way to help homeless dogs find homes! We have found that sometimes dogs with behavioral limitations have a harder time finding their permanent home. We have learned it’s mostly a myth that special needs dogs and senior dogs have a harder time finding homes, it’s the tween ages where the puppy size has worn off, but not the puppy energy. This scholarship program provides funds that will allow shelter dogs selected by our Behavioral Team to attend a 6-week training and obedience class at HHHS called Petiquette 1 with their new family, once adopted! It increases adopter’s confidence in taking home a dog who needs some training, increases bond with the newly adopted dog and their family, helps the dog learn skills and manners, and provides a fun and engaging activity for the dog to do with their family! The goal of this program is to reduce length of stays for higher energy dogs as well as reduce shelter return rates.

SPONSOR CAT MICROCHIPS

A great way you can help us keep our intake numbers down is by sponsoring to microchip cats! Currently, all dogs are microchipped before going home and cats are an additional $10 for adopters at the time of adoption. We would love to microchip more cats, because sometimes it’s hard to determine if a cat is a stray cat who sneaked out of it’s house or an outdoor colony cat or if it goes indoor/outdoor. Cats’ markings can also be harder to distinguish from other cats. Our current Return-to-Owner rate for cats is less than 5% per year and we want to change this. When cats are microchipped at the time of adoption, it greatly increases their chance of being reunited with their families, reduces the length of stay that a cat would have to be at the shelter, saves the shelter resources, and reduces the worry for cat parents of “is my cat ever coming home?” Please consider sponsoring the cost of microchipping cats prior to their adoption.

to SPONSOR A SPAY-NEUTER SURGERY

Each year, HHHS admits more than 6,000 animals. The only way to reduce this number is to prevent unplanned litters in our community. YOU can help us keep the number of animals down at HHHS by sponsoring the spay/neuter for publicly owned pets and families who need this service at a lower cost.

Through our Community Clinic, we provide discounted surgeries so that less babies are born and less animals need the shelter.

Help us end pet over-population by sponsoring spay-neuter fees for families in our community. These might be your neighbors – pets in your neighborhood, pets you’ve seen on the lost and found pages – pets who have loving homes and need that extra boost.
