Admission Counselor (Full Time)
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay: Starting at $11.00 per hour

Position Summary
The Admissions Coordinator serves as the first point of contact for animals entering the shelter and for members of the public seeking assistance. This position is responsible for ensuring the accurate intake and documentation of animals, assisting with lost and found services, supporting reunification efforts, and providing exceptional customer service. The Admissions Coordinator works closely with other departments to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of every animal while helping create a positive experience for the community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
● Oversee the admission process for all animals entering the shelter.
● Gather and accurately record intake information from customers.
● Vaccinate, weigh, estimate age, and document incoming animals.
● Enter animal information into shelter management software and create
identification records.
● Maintain accurate and organized animal records.
● Provide lost and found services by:
● Recording lost and found reports.
● Checking incoming animals for identification, including scanning for
microchips.
● Comparing incoming animals with lost pet reports to facilitate reunification.
● Implant microchips for reclaimed animals and adopted pets.
● Assist with the euthanasia process as assigned and in accordance with shelter
policies.
● Monitor animal behavior and health, promptly communicating concerns to
supervisors or appropriate departments.
● Deliver compassionate, professional customer service while assisting visitors, pet
owners, and community members.
● Address customer concerns and refer unresolved issues to the Director of Animal
Welfare.
● Develop and maintain proficiency with the shelter management software.
● Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the Admissions area using approved
cleaning methods and chemicals.
● Follow all safety, sanitation, and animal handling protocols.
● Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
● High school diploma or GED.
● Valid driver’s license.
● Basic computer proficiency.
● Customer service experience.
● Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
● Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
● Effective verbal and written communication skills.
● Ability to prioritize tasks and exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced
environment.
● Willingness to take initiative, provide direction, and contribute positively to the
team.
Preferred
● Previous experience working in an animal shelter, veterinary clinic, or animal
care environment.
● Experience using shelter management software.
Physical Requirements
● Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, and sit for extended periods.
● Ability to safely lift, push, or pull up to 25 pounds.
● Ability to use computers, phones, and other office equipment.
● Ability to safely handle dogs, cats, and other animals, including those that may be frightened, injured, sick, stray, or aggressive.
Work Environment
This position is performed primarily in an animal shelter environment with frequent
interaction with animals, coworkers, volunteers, and members of the public. Employees may be exposed to animal odors, noise, parasites, and infectious diseases commonly associated with animal care. The work environment is fast-paced and requires flexibility, compassion, and professionalism.

Animal Care Tech (Full Time & Part Time)
Job Classification: Non-Exempt, Full or part-time
Pay: Starting at $11 per hour

Reporting Relationship: Animal Behavior Director
Primary Accountability:
The Animal Care Technician is responsible for maintenance of the kennels and basic care of the animals sheltered at HHHS. The position is responsible for providing appropriate kennel conditions by cleaning and disinfecting the kennels and providing adequate bedding dependent on the animals. The position also performs duties including feeding and watering the animals, reporting animal behavior or health concerns, and basic everyday maintenance including laundry and removal of trash.
Major Duties:
- Clean and disinfect kennels using appropriate tools and chemicals in a manner that reflects HHHS’ commitment to a healthy environment and ensure this level of cleanliness is maintained throughout the day.
- Provide basic care, food and water to animals as directed by feeding schedules and measurement guidelines.
- Provide and manage appropriate living conditions consisting of blankets, kuranda beds or some other form of bedding for each animal in a kennel as advised by supervisor.
- Sanitize and clean all toilets located in each kennel room
- Wash and dry all dishes/bowls; put all clean dishes away in designated cabinets or locations
- Communicate any concerns or changes in animal behavior or health in a timely manner to coworkers, supervisors or other departments.
- Assist and ensure laundry is washed, dried, folded and placed in its appropriate location on a daily basis.
- Remove all trash from the kennels and place it in appropriate waste management bin on a daily basis.
- Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the organization’s discretion.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with staff.
- Ability to work efficiently with attention to details and quality of work produced.
- Ability to exercise good judgment in setting priorities and organization of work load.
- Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work-related issues and problems.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to safely push, pull and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to bend, kneel, reach, and stand/walk for periods of time exceeding 4 hours.
- Ability to operate power equipment.
- Ability to work at heights utilizing ladders, scaffolding and power lifts.
Work Environment:
- Interaction with staff and customers.
Potential exposure to parasites and infectious diseases that may be carried and transmitted by animals.
