Volunteering at Helping Hands
Volunteers are an invaluable part of our team at Helping Hands and we are always look for new volunteers to help us.
Volunteers must be at least 10 years old. Any volunteer under the age of 16 must volunteer alongside a parent or guardian. Volunteers over the age of 16 are able to volunteer on their own, with parent or guardian approval.
If you have any questions about volunteering, you can reach out to our Volunteer Coordinator, Caroline at caroline.rea@hhhstopeka.org.
How old do I need to be to volunteer?
You must be at least 10 years old to volunteer at HHHS and all kids under the age of 16 must volunteer alongside an adult. Kids 16+ are permitted to volunteer on their own (with parent or guardian approval).
Is there a minimum hour requirement?
There is no monthly hour requirement! We appreciate any time volunteers are able to donate to us!
However, if a profile has not shown any activity in more than 3 months, it becomes marked as ‘Inactive’. Inactive accounts can be reactivated by reaching out and letting us know! After 6 months of inactivity, without a request to keep the account open, the account will be archived in our system.
You’re welcome back, even if your account was archived, but we do ask that you retake training so you’re aware of any proceedure updates or changes!
What is my first step in becoming a volunteer?
The first step to becoming a potential volunteer will be filling out our volunteering application.
Those are generally processed on Thursdays. If after 2 weeks you haven’t heard anything back, please feel free to reach out.
Any incomplete applications will be rejected.
How do I schedule my training tour?
After your application is processed you will receive orientation information. Once those are completed, you can reply to the email and let us know. You’ll then receive a schedule of available tour/in-person orientation dates and you are welcome to sign up for whichever one works best for you.
